Most Loyalty Programs Reward Consumption

Buy more. Earn more. Spend more. Unlock more.

It is a model we have become incredibly familiar with and, to be fair, it works. Who doesn't love picking up a fantastic wok with Woolies Rewards or discovering you have $10 off at checkout when you are having an off day?

The relationship is simple. Transaction. Reward. Repeat.

When we first started thinking about The Circle, we assumed we would create something similar. A community program. A few benefits. A few perks. A few discounts.

Done.

Then we stopped and asked ourselves a question.

What behaviour are we actually rewarding?

If SunGods was being built around living differently, creating a traditional loyalty program designed to encourage people to consume more made absolutely no sense.

That question changed The Circle completely.

We Didn't Want To Reward More Consumption

One of the ideas sitting at the heart of SunGods is that living well isn't necessarily about owning more. In many cases, it is the opposite.

Buying fewer things. Choosing better things. Caring for them longer. Understanding where they came from. Returning them, recovering them or passing them on when their role in our lives is complete.

We don't need The Circle to teach people how to consume. We are all remarkably good at that already.

What interested us was whether a community could encourage something different.

Could we reward curiosity? Participation? Better habits? Returning rather than discarding? Learning something new? Helping somebody else discover another way?

Suddenly, we weren't designing a loyalty program anymore.

We were designing a participation system.

The Real Goal Is Participation

The Circle was never designed simply to create customers. It was designed to create participants.

People who are curious. People willing to ask questions. People interested in living differently and challenging some of the habits we have followed for years without really thinking about them.

That means participation can take many forms.

Completing the 5 Day Reset. Taking part in 30 Days Living Differently. Joining a conversation. Testing a product. Sharing an idea. Returning something to us for recovery. Passing something on through Rags to Riches rather than throwing it away.

Even helping somebody else become curious enough to start asking their own questions.

None of those things require you to buy another product.

That matters to us.

Because if we genuinely believe better systems are possible, then the relationship between a brand and its community has to become bigger than the transaction.

Small Actions Create Bigger Change

One of the biggest lessons from building SunGods has been realising how rarely meaningful change arrives through one dramatic gesture.

More often, it begins quietly.

A better question. A different purchase. A habit we suddenly notice. Something repaired instead of replaced. A product returned rather than discarded. A conversation that makes somebody else look at something differently.

Individually, these actions can feel insignificant, collectively, they begin to change behaviour and that is what The Circle is built around.

Not perfection and another impossible list of things we should all be doing better.

Progress, Small actions repeated often enough to become a different way of living.

Why Challenges Matter

The 5 Day Reset and 30 Days Living Differently were never created simply to give people tasks to complete. They exist because awareness has a funny way of changing things.

Once you notice something, it becomes remarkably difficult to unsee it.

How much we own. What we buy without thinking. What we throw away. What we replace before we need to. What genuinely adds value to our lives and what is simply taking up space.

That doesn't mean we suddenly make every decision perfectly. I certainly don't.

It simply means we begin making those decisions more consciously, perhaps that is where meaningful change really starts, not with somebody telling us what we should do but with becoming curious enough to notice what we are already doing.

A Community Designed To Continue

Perhaps the part of The Circle that excites me most is that it was never built around a particular product. Bath sheets and bedding are simply where SunGods begins.

The Circle can continue as the products change, the collections evolve and completely new ideas find their way onto our roadmap. Underneath all of it sits something much bigger - Luxury. Wellbeing. Responsibility. Connection. Participation and increasingly, conscious living.

The products give us somewhere to start, the community gives those ideas somewhere to grow which is a very different relationship from earning points at checkout.

The Movement Continues

Awakening helped us see differently. Discovery helped us understand differently. Movement asks us to do something with what we have discovered.

The Circle exists to create a place for that to happen.

Not through rewarding people for consuming more, but by recognising the hundreds of small actions that can help us live a little differently. Better systems are not built by a handful of people with all the answers, they are built by communities willing to participate.

One action. One conversation. One small change at a time which is the reward.

Designed with a beginning, a life and a way home.
